Aspen Painting Inc. owned by Roger I. Moyer (PCA accredited contractor) is a full-service Drywall, Plastering, and Painting Company that has been serving the Roaring Fork Valley since 1968. The Aspen studio/ office is located at 101 Founders Place, Suite 101 in the Obermeyer Plaza where we can show you our innovative samples.
We are proud to offer our help with both commercial and residential projects. We maintain several retail outlets in the Aspen area and work tirelessly to ensure these properties look their best year-round.
Roger Moyer
Roger Moyer arrived in Aspen on October 5th, 1965 at 12:30 am on his motorcycle, a Triumph T600. That morning, he met his friend Bill Rollins, the editor of the Aspen Illustrated News, at the Tippler restaurant formerly located at the base of Aspen Mountain and which now holds the Nell Residences. Bill made it possible for Roger to move into a log cabin near Difficult campground thus commencing his life in Aspen. After learning to ski in Garmisch-Partenkirchen while serving a tour of duty with the US Army, Roger developed an avid interest in winter sports and quickly became an expert skier. His move to Aspen was inspired by his interest in ski racing. He painted houses in the summer, and in 1967 joined Stein Erikson in opening the ski school in Snowmass. After starting Aspen Painting with fellow ski school instructor Ken Oakes in the spring of 1968, Stein’s West End residence became the first home painted by the new company.
In 1970 Ken left Aspen Painting to pursue other endeavors and Roger took over full operation in 1973 the first winter paint crew, a husband and wife team, helped move the business forward commencing year-round operations. Roger continued to coach skiing part-time while managing the business.
Aspen Painting quickly became known for its Victorian home restoration and intricate and detailed color work. A reputation that still holds to this day over 55 years later. During the ‘70s Roger attended his first Painting & Decorating Contractors Association convention in Chicago and has remained a member ever since serving as a national board member in the ‘80s and becoming one of the first certified residential contractors through the association’s stringent accreditation program.
For over 55 years, Roger has maintained strong client relationships throughout the Roaring Fork Valley, and Aspen Painting now in its 56th year has prided itself in a commitment to maintaining technical expertise and use of the foremost in new painting technologies. Many customers have remained since the late ‘60s to this day. Aspen Painting has its brush all over the valley and is forever committed to keeping valuable real estate in prime condition.
Since the beginning, Roger has held to the hiring philosophy of finding craftspeople who are better than him and held to doing what is necessary to keep them around. Many of Aspen Paintings employees have been with the company for close to 30 years. This high retention enables Aspen Painting to maintain expertise, build knowledge, and keep our clients happy and appreciative of our concern for their valuable property both inside and out.
The staff has many skills such as handyman carpentry, drywall installation, and finishing, plaster finishing, all levels of painting, and wallcovering installation thus covering all aspects of preparation and finishing to keep your home looking better year after year.
Our portfolio consists of Industrial: (water & sewage plants). Commercial: many of Aspen’s National stores, The School district. And our favorite, residential projects both new and old.
